Is there a more iconic family vacation than a trip to the House of Mouse? But with multiple theme parks and numerous attractions, making sure you get the most out of your trip is no simple task.
Here are some things to keep in mind when booking a stay at Disney.
Get a Package With a Meal Plan
Nothing can derail a fun day at a Disney theme park faster than hunger. But feeding a family or large group can put a dent in the pockets of travelers who are on a budget. That’s where meal plans come in handy.
Disney currently offers four meal plans to choose from:
- The Quick-Service Dining Plan
- The Disney Dining Plan
- The Disney Dining Plus Plan
- The Deluxe Dining Plan
With the exception of the Quick-Service Plan, which is the most economical and predominantly caters to families on the go, each plan includes both self-service options throughout the parks as well as sit-down meals complete with waitstaff and Disney characters. And because they’re planned and paid for in advance, there’s no need to carry cash.
Capture the Magic With Disney Photopass
Stationed throughout their theme parks, Disney has a fleet of professional photographers ready to record your most impactful moments, so you don’t have to. Whether it’s meeting a favorite Disney character or the exuberant faces of your kids as they exit a ride, Disney Photopass ensures that you won’t miss out on the moment.
The pictures are available to browse at the My Disney Experience app. All you have to do is register, and you’ll be greeted with your personal gallery of photos taken around the parks. Select and pay for individual photos on the go, or choose to pay a one-time fee upfront for all your photos.
Events That Cater to Adults
One of the reasons a Disney vacation is a great family getaway is because it truly includes something for everyone.
Take Epcot. Not only is it home to kid-friendly rides and experiences, but the park also hosts festivals adults can enjoy. Events like the Flower & Garden Festival and the International Food & Wine Festival offer visitors the chance to take in beautiful topiary art and experience world-class cuisine.
Seek Out New Attractions
Due to the pandemic, Disney was forced to delay the opening of more than a few new attractions. Now, with restrictions slowly easing, the world-famous parks are set to welcome visitors back with an unprecedented lineup of new experiences. Here are a few and their opening dates, so you can plan your next trip around them.
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure — opening October 1, 2021
- Harmonious — opening October 1, 2021
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — TBA 2022
Why You Should Book In Advance
Availability. Disney theme parks are some of the most visited in the world. Beyond steeper savings, booking your trip early gives you the best chance of landing your first choice resorts and accommodations.
And by booking your trip at least two months in advance, you can reserve space for your family on Disney’s most popular rides with FastPass. FastPass gives you access to shorter lines throughout the park, but spaces usually run out quickly.
